Data management is the collation, analysis and dissemination of medical data for assigned projects, either on a national or global scale. Information sharing is vital in data management, so co-ordination, successful liaison and mentoring are a large part of the data manager’s role. A medical or science degree is preferred for entry, coupled with relevant or transferrable experience and a firm knowledge of pharma and biotech systems.
