Diagnostics is the term used to describe a test, or series of tests, performed to discover the nature of a disease or ailment. Diagnosticians may not actually treat or cure diseases, depending on their wider role, but are responsible for offering information and explanations on diseases. Diagnosis is the first port of call in medicine, whether the patient is in hospital, at a GP surgery or a clinic.
